You might also experience an emotional release, like a sense of lightness or a sudden “aha” moment. Whatever comes up, trust that your body knows exactly what it needs to heal.

Do I have to believe in Reiki for it to work?
Nope! Reiki isn’t tied to any religion or belief system. It works with your body’s natural energy, just like gravity works whether you believe in it or not. Even skeptics often feel the calming, relaxing effects of Reiki during their first session. The only thing you need is an open mind—or at least curiosity!

What should I do to prepare for a Reiki session?
Great question! Here’s how to get the most out of your session:
• Wear comfortable clothes to help you relax.
• Drink water beforehand — hydration supports energy flow.
• Come with an open mind and a specific intention (e.g., stress relief, emotional release, relaxation etc).
• Working with your clean energy will provide the best, most aligned results - so it is not recommended if you are under the influence of alcohol, marijuana or other recreational drugs during your sessions.
Otherwise there’s really no wrong way to show up for Reiki—it’s about what feels right for you.

Will I feel “fixed” after one session?
Reiki isn’t about fixing something broken—it’s about helping you uncover the balance and wholeness that’s already inside you. Many people feel lighter or more relaxed after just one session, but lasting change often takes time and consistency.
Think of it like going to the gym: one workout feels great, but regular sessions build lasting strength and resilience.

Is Reiki safe for everyone?
Absolutely! Reiki is a gentle, non-invasive practice that’s safe for all ages (even pets). It works alongside other treatments or therapies, making it a great complement to your existing wellness routine.

What should I do after my Reiki session?
You’ll want to drink lots of water for the next 24-48 hrs, because we will have moved lots of old, outdated energy around in your body which you’ll want to flush out of your system.
After your session it is recommended that you take a few minutes to journal, reflect, do some slow stretches/movement or go for a walk in nature to fully integrate the healing energy into your body and mind.
It’s also ideal if you plan a relaxing evening after your session, and don’t have any high-stress (or major binge-drinking) activities to attend afterward, as the healing Reiki energy will continue to work in your body for 24-48 after your sessions and any stress or substances could reduce its flow and effectiveness.

How frequently should I come back for more sessions?
Healing is a journey, not a one-time event. Think of Reiki like untangling a set of earbuds left in your bag—it takes time to work through the knots. While one session might bring relief, deeper healing and new found clarity can unfold over time.
Studies show Reiki works best after three or more sessions because healing happens in layers. The first session relaxes and resets your body, the second peels back emotional or energetic blocks, and by the third, you’re clearing obstacles you didn’t even realize were holding you back.
For lasting benefits, consider bi-weekly, monthly, or quarterly “tune-up” sessions to maintain balance and flow. Is Reiki Energy Healing covered by my workplace benefits?
It might be! You will be required to pay for your Reiki service on the day of your session, however many workplaces now include Reiki under their “Health & Wellbeing Spending Accounts” or similar wellness benefits.
Check with your company’s benefits provider or HR department to see if energy healing services like Reiki are eligible for reimbursement. Lonsdale Wellness Studio will email you your copy of the Reiki Service receipt that might support your claim for reimbursement. It's worth asking—your healing journey could be covered!
